Who are we?

Moonlight Strategy serves people and companies at their inflection points — those intentional but no less uncomfortable moments of transition and growth.

Started by Barbara Patchen, a 15-year veteran of organizational development and a decade-long innovation pro, Moonlight brings perspective-shifting experiences, coaching, and in-house advising  to life for clients through our network of solopreneurs, designers, strategists, and coaches.

Like our clients, each of us is on a journey to reimagine the role work plays in our lives and to maneuver personal and professional growth with joy, humility, and a sense of humor. We learned a long time ago that serious work isn’t the absence of play; in fact, it’s knowing how to embrace levity in the midst of challenges that makes us stronger.

About Barbara

Barbara Patchen is an organizational psychology practitioner who is obsessed with disrupting an outdated construct of work. She helps leaders reimagine what work can be and how they can achieve their goals in a new era of industry. As a means of executing her dreams, Barbara serves as the Principal Consultant at Moonlight Strategy.

Prior to starting Moonlight, Barbara served as the Head of Client Strategy at Stoked, a human-centered design consulting firm. Today, she still spends a portion of her time as their Head of Growth. Over her tenure at Stoked, she worked with corporate and nonprofit partners to help them shift from conventional cultures to more progressive and adaptable teams and environments. Her client roster included companies like Hyatt Hotels, Coach, AARP, Cigna, TVA, Uber, Expedia, RetailMeNot, CVS, and T-Mobile.

Prior to joining Stoked, Barbara served in a variety of talent and organizational development leadership roles at a Fortune 200 healthcare company where her team won numerous awards for creating an outstanding environment for leaders to thrive.

Barbara holds a master’s degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Middle Tennessee State University as well as an undergraduate degree in Business and Global Leadership from Ohio University. She currently lives in Fayetteville, Arkansas where she and her partner recently purchased a 50-acre farm. You can catch her canoeing, cooking complicated meals for friends, and writing for fun.
